When the childish Lord Koenma decided to take a vacation to Death Sea beach, he had no idea his plans would include his kidnapping at the hands of outlaw demons! A ransom was issued, but the price is high: bring the Golden Seal -- an artifact which bestows leadership of the underworld -- by midnight, or Koenma will be dropped in a pool of lava! Can the spirit detectives Yusuke, Botan and Kuwabara "borrow" the golden seal, save their friend and somehow manage to return the ransom before the King of the Underworld himself returns from a business trip?

An unnatural rain has caused the river Styx to break its banks and flood the whole of the spirit world, causing Botan to flee on a journey that almost costs her her life. After bringing Botan to Genkai’s shrine (and retrieving an artifact she brought for him under the orders of Lord Koenma), Yakumo discovers that a nefarious plan has been hatched by Yakumo, ruler of the Netherworld! His goal is to destroy spiritual energy points so that he may rebuild the human world to his desires, and now, it’s up to Yusuke and the other spirit detectives to save both the spirit and human worlds alike!

I love this series. If not for the dependance on fighting aspects giving it a weak storyline, this would be at the top of my list. The character development is very rich, and you'll love them to bits (soon or enough). This may probably be limited to male roles however, as its this gender that fills most of the cast. I'm not saying there is total lack of female charaacters. But being that there is so little romance inserted throughout the 112 episodes.

Too much fighting?? too little romance?? But I don't care because the characters and comedy are enough.
