| French soccer star Zinedine Zidane, right, stands with teammate Franck Ribery, left, and French team coach Raymond Domenech as they arrive for a lunch with French President Jacques Chirac at the Elysee Palace in Paris. For many French citizens, the hardest part of France's World Cup final loss to Italy wasn't the defeat itself but the moment when national hero Zinedine Zidane ended his career with a brutal act of fury. | |

| After the War Cup Continue...... ItalyItaly's World Cup-winning coach Marcello Lippi has resigned, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced on Wednesday. The 58-year-old Lippi led the Azzurri to their fourth World Cup title, first since 1982, on Sunday when they beat France on penalties in the final in Berlin. GermanyJuergen Klinsmann, who led Germany to a surprise third-place finish in the World Cup and win over the hearts of the nation, said on Wednesday he was stepping down and assistant Joachim Loew would take his place. FIFAFIFA president Sepp Blatter says Zinedine Zidane could be stripped of his Golden Ball award for the best player at the World Cup due to violent conduct. " The winner of the award is not decided by FIFA, but by an international commission of journalists," Blatter said in Wednesday's La Repubblica. " That said, FIFA's executive committee has the right, and the duty, to intervene when faced with behavior contrary to the ethic of the sport." If this happen, the Golden Ball Award will go to Fabio Cannavaro.

It's the last award for him. | |

| After War Cup continue...Zinedine Zidane on Wednesday said he was sorry for head-butting an Italian opponent during the World Cup final against Italy. But he said in a French television interview that defender Marco Materazzi had deserved it for insulting him with some " very hard words" aimed at sullying his mother and sister. He also ask for forgiveness from all the children who watched that. | |

| It's a tough choice between Zidane and Cannavaro.. Both played really great. If you were to ask me. On respect for contribution to his team n nation n the game of football n as a lsat award.. It'll be Zidane. But If to judge the level of play in 2006 World Cup.. definitely Cannavaro. He was simply superb!! Without this stronghold guardian.. Italy might not be the champ now. | |
